Support CCM today to ensure a place to play for all of us tomorrow.

We hope you have found lots of joy this year despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. Highlights for Chesapeake Children's Museum include many additions to the park: blazing a second nature trail - the West trail - that passes by the storm water ponds behind the building, installing the WonderTone near the musical flowers, mounting a colorful pinwheel on top of the building, seeing young children delight in the new Truck Pit, and installing a pair of Nature Looms for visitors of all ages to weave on.

We were thrilled to bring children's activities to community events this summer and fall - the Annapolis Juneteenth Festival, the Kunta Kinte Festival at City Dock, and el Día de Los Muertos which felt like a trip to Mexico. And we were so happy to have visitors return for outdoor events at CCM - the Sizzling Summer Family Concert, Get Wet Day in August, and the Harvest Hootenanny with animal friends from Running Spring Farm.

We are grateful for the many grants and donations that have kept us financially afloat in the face of a limited ability to charge for programs. Grantors include the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the State of Maryland General Assembly, Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, Maryland Humanities Council, the Four Rivers Heritage Area, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, the Annapolis Arts in Public Places Commission, and the City of Annapolis.

The 2021 Annie Awards of the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County included an award to CCM Founder and Executive Director, Deborah "Miss Debbie" Wood, Ph.D. as the Arts Educator for the year. Brava!

We have much to look forward to in 2022 thanks to specific grant-funded projects and general operating support.
  • The Welcome Way - a resurfaced "eco-friendly" parking area with a walkway of hands-on exhibits about the natural world.
  • Hello Radio - an outdoor exhibit about the role that local radio played in the Civil Rights movement from 1965-1985.
  • An outdoor amphitheater for group activities and live performances.
  • A 30-year Anniversary celebration for the founding of CCM in June.

Please consider a year-end contribution to help keep things moving along. Vaccines to protect the youngest ages, 0 to 5 years, are expected in early 2022. We are so looking forward to bringing the laughter of children back inside Chesapeake Children's Museum!
